Halloween Wednesday 23rd November

On a Scary Halloween night there were five children dressed up in Scary costumes like Vampires, Clowns and other Scary costumes.

On that night the children went into a haunted house with cobwebs in the corners and bats in the attic and there were more scary Halloween stuff in the haunted house. An there was no one there.

When the children went upstairs they said “Hello” altogether. So they split up to see if anyone was home and then Suddenly two children got lost. Both of them shouted “AAHH” and then the other children came back together.

They went down stairs and went into the kitchen. Next they went into sitting room and found three ghosts. Real ghosts! Two of the ghosts were holding two of the children the two children weren’t that scared because the ghosts were playing a game on them.

So the five chldren weren’t scared after after all so the children weren’t scared so they became friend

Bears are Mammals

Intro

Bears are Mammals because they have live Babies. The mother bear keeps her babies safe from predators like wolves.Bears aren’t insects or a reptile because I know Reptiles are animals that have scales. Bears are large and strong .

Where Bears live

Habitat

Bears can be found in America and Polar bears can be found in cold places like Antarctica, and North pole. The Mother bears give birth to there babies under tree roots in a safe place from dangerous animals.

Appearance

Asiatic bears have lots of fur around their neck. They have a whitish creamy coloured y on their chest. They have large ears and their medium sized.

Giant panda bears are black and white. The black spots are on the ears, eyes, shoulders, and legs. They weigh about to 140kg and they can grow up to about 2metres. They have large ears which includes eyes, snout mouth, and ears.

Sun bears are the smallest bears around and polar bears are largest bears. Sun bears are 4.5 ft long and weigh up to 100 lbs. They have a short sleek black fur with an orange-yellow horseshoe shape colour on their chest.

Behaviour

Bears hibernate threw the winter to keep there babies warm and they come out when it is summer. When it is winter they go under tree roots to keep warm.

Conclusion

I think bears are cool because they can live for a very,very,very long time and they are very good at sensing.

Prize Giving

Prize giving was  on the 27 August at Te Aranga Marae.  Prize giving is at the end of the season.    You get  an award when you have played sports for a team.  You usually get a medal and a trophy but some other teams get spare stuff. I play for M.A.C Warriors.  

Prize giving started at 12 but I got there at 11.45am. The first team to get their prizes was fifth grade, followed by sixth grade, and then seventh grade and finally my grade which is eighth grade.  My Rugby team is called M.A.C Warriors and my coach's name is Reg.

Some people got injuries at school like a girl in my rugby team.  She broke her arm and she didn’t play for the rest of the season. The people that had an injury didn’t go to prize giving.

It was just  prize giving for M.A.C club  rugby and I was the most improved player because I never missed a game and never missed one practice.  My team  and I received a trophy, a poster (with your name on it), and a jersey as our prizes.

Remember after the hard work all season there is a great prize giving at the end.

Soccer Skills

In Room 19, a few weeks ago, we have been doing soccer skills with AJ.

We had to listen to AJ to know what to do. When AJ told us to pick a buddy each week I usually picked Vashi or Trace.

My favourite skill is heading because AJ said, “Stop. I want to show you Vashi and Wairangi’s headers.” My worst skill was weaving and dribbling through the cones because I missed lots of cones.

When we played soccer games, it was usually boys vs girls. Each week the boys would always win. I don’t really like four goal soccer because you get the teams mixed up.

When we go out for PE, AJ sometimes says, “I want you to go for a run around the whole school field.”

Each week he sometimes splits us into teams to do races or relays. Some people groan about it because they don’t share the ball that much.

I need to get better at weaving and dribbling through the cones because sometimes I miss some cones… like lots of them.

I learnt the skill of weaving and dribbling through the cones and also I learnt to use two feet when you're dribbling through the cones.

Cross Country

I enjoyed Cross Country because I beat my high score from last year, last year I came 35th and this year I came 16th and I ran faster this year in Cross Country.

I did not enjoy the people who went past me because I couldn’t of had a chance to beat my high score even better.

I learnt when you run you put your legs further and start on the left side because when you turn on the next corner you get a chance to run a little.

I practised to start on the left because it gives you little bit of energy when your running.

What I want to improve on is to beat my high score from this year because I want to get better at my running skills.

1. Competitors at the Olympics need to be honest

I think competitors at the olympics should be honest because if they get a medal it could be taken away from them if they have cheated.	I think competitors at the olympics should be honest because it wouldn’t be fair if some people took drugs to make them get bigger or go faster and other people didn’t. If they get kicked out it lets the competitors family, friends, coach and their team down and it gives their country a bad name.

Dear Mr White,

We have been finding rubbish on school grounds. I was collecting rubbish from around rooms 16-21 with Joshua. The most dirtiest places were the field, outside rooms 1-3, Adventure playground, and outside rooms 8 and 9.

Solutions

Room 19 thought of putting wheelie bins on the field, two down the far end and two in the middle and three along the side of the fence. We should empty bins more often after morning tea and lunch. Whoever has the cleanest area will win a treat or a trophy. Make teachers sit with children at morning tea and lunch.  We should make the rubbish bins bigger so when it is filled to the top and when it’s windy the rubbish doesn't fly out.

Swim safe
Yesterday on 9th June a lady named Melanie came and she talked about swim safe we all had a turn for questioning. Tobey
showed us how to hop in the river safely.  

• Hand straight up for help.
• Throw to rescue-ball, life jacket, buoy, surf board, inflatable, bucket, container, flutter board, chilly, bin, milk carton.
• H.E.L.P- heat escape lowing position.
• Boat- life jacket.
• Check speed of water-twig,stick.
• Check depth- lower self in facing the bank.
• Adult supervising.
• Swim between the flags.
• When your tired lie on you back like a starfish.
• People who hav life jackets link in a circle person with no life jacket go right in the middle.
• Don't grab the person drawning all yous both drawn
• Don't put hands over the other persons shoulder all yous all drawn.

Guitar lessons

Guitar lessons

On Tuesdays I have Guitar lessons with my friend Riley,Charlotte,James and Luke.  All of them are in room 18 but not Luke.  I have a blue Guitar Charlotte has a red one and Riley has a red one too.  There are all sorts of cords there is A,D,E,G,F,C,A seven,D seven and E seven,  My favourite cord is A because its quick for me to do it and I can do it with out looking.  Riley's favourite cord is D because he does it straight away.  Charlotte's is rather out of A,D, or E.  And James is none of them because he is new and Luke because he is new too.  My teacher's name is Morris or Mr Rebs he is old as his Guitar is brown and that is with Luke and James because they are using the schools Guitar because they all don't have one but probably Morris does.   We all have to pay the fees to play Guitar lessons and it is better playing the Guitar with your nails cut so you can bend down on the cords so it sounds better.  

Swimming at Flaxmere Waterworld

For  two weeks,  room 19 are  going swimming at the Flaxmere Waterworld.   There are groups one two and three I am in group three because I'm a good swimmer.  My favourite swimming is dolphin dive the bad one I can't do is free style with no flutterboard.  Every Thursday I go there for swimming lessons it is quite fun and the people in my group are Lizi and Reid's sister.When we go on the bus to Flaxmere water world some are enormous as I like to sit way far at the back seats and at the front I sit at the very front. The big pool is SO COLD! like a freezer and the little pool is warm as like a spa pool but we couldn't even fit in the little pool.
